A 62-year-old South Australian man is missing in Redbank Gorge, west of Alice Springs.
Darwin police said Michael Kenny was reported missing on Sunday afternoon when he became separated from his family while hiking.
Senior Sergeant Darrell Kerr said the man’s family looked for Mr Kenny for a few hours before raising the alarm.
A helicopter continued the search until nightfall without success.
On Monday the search resumed with park rangers, police and other emergency service personnel called in.
Police said the missing man’s son was also helping with the search.
