Nepalese Tara Air Plane Crashes in Isolated Area

nsnbc : A Nepalese passenger plane operated by Tara Air on flight TA193 crashed near Soleghopte cliff at Dana VDC – 2 in Myagdi, minutes after takeoff from Pokhara at 7:50 am. The plane with 23 passengers and crew on board was bound for Jomson.

Tara Air_Nepal_(archives)The Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office in Myagdi, Bishwara Khadka, told the press that a team had been deployed by the Dana Police Post. The plane has crashed in an isolated area. Police reports that it will take the team a five hours walk to arrive at the crash site.

The search for the missing plane had been complicated by bad weather conditions. Two helicopters that were initially dispatched to search for the plane had to return due to adverse weather conditions. Helicopter operations in high-altitude areas of Nepal are notoriously dangerous, even without adverse weather conditions.

One of the helicopters was operated by the Nepalese Army and one was operated by Air Dynasty. The crash site was reportedly found by a local leader, Nabin Khadk, who spotted the crashed aircraft five hours after the plane lost contact with air traffic control.
