Spanish police investigate how grandson of King shot himself in foot

According to sources from the Royal Household, he is expected to make a full
recovery.

It is not the first time that a young royal has been involved in a shooting
accident.

The King himself accidentally killed his 14-year old younger brother Alfonso
when a pistol he was handling misfired.

The incident in March 1956 when the future monarch was 18-years-old left him
devastated.

Queen Sofia, who visited her grandson in hospital Tuesday, told reporters: “These
things happen with children”.

The latest royal drama comes just weeks after King Juan Carlos’s other
son-in-law was called before a judge in a widespread corruption scandal that
alleges misappropriate of public funds.

Inaki Urdangarin, the Duke of Palma married to the King’s youngest daughter
Princess Cristina, appeared in court in Majorca in February to defend
himself against allegations that he used his royal privileges to secure
lucrative deals for a non-profit organisation he headed then fraudulently
diverted funds.
