In Syria they demand elections to vote for a President even though there were elections in 2014, when President Bashar Al Assad was voted in by the Syrians people with 88.7% of the vote and a massive 73% turnout. The Syrians chose who they wanted as President, but the US were not happy about this result and would not recognise the elections, even though Dr. Bashar Al Assad had a far bigger turnout and percentage that Obama could only dream about. Yet the US still demand fresh elections, so they can get the result they want and not what the Syrian people want.
However in Kosovo it is a completely different story, in the country known as the US success story. The US has forced a government of corrupt criminals who have made a deal among themselves, as to who will be President.
Hashim Thaci made a deal with Isa Mustafa, that if Mustafa would become Prime Minister, then his party must vote for Thaci to become President, against the wishes of the citizens of Kosovo.
Demonstrations have already started against Thaci becoming President, but the US stands behind him and protects him from prosecution of the crimes and corruption that everyone knows he is guilty of. If Thaci becomes President, then the demonstrations will continue. Why do the US demand democratic elections in Syria, yet in Kosovo the Presidents are elected by friends and secret deals. As if it was not bad enough having the last President being decided by the US Embassy and called the President that came out of an envelope.
As Thaci is already planning a celebration to take place in Prishtina on Friday, calling for his PDK village supporter to come to the capital for the celebrations. Thaci travelled around Kosovo to all the the villages before the election date had even been announced before the last election buying for votes from the very poor, but he could not do this in Prishtina. The Municipality of Prishtina is ruled by the one of the opposition parties Vetevendosje and the square is already filling with demonstrators against Thaci becoming President and on Friday these two groups are going to clash. If the same crowds turn out as last time, there will be no space in the centre for Thaci supporters.
If the US was serious about stamping out corruption in Kosovo they would let the people decide who will be their President. It seems there is one rule for Syria and another one for Kosovo.
