According to a senior European intelligence source speaking to the Associated Press, “his country might stop sharing information with the United States if it confirms President Donald Trump shared classified details with Russian officials.”
In addition, Burkhard Lischka, senior German lawmaker and chair of his parliament’s intelligence oversight committee, relayed in a statement: “If it proves to be true that the American president passed on internal intelligence matters that would be highly worrying.”
Donald Trump took to Twitter to attempt damage control, asserting that he only “wanted to share with Russia” and that he has “the absolute right to do.”

Trump is in hot water after the Washington Post revealed he shared intelligence about the Islamic State with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak.
Russia is not a member of the intelligence-sharing arrangement where the information originated; and Trump did not secure permission from the originating source before sharing with the Russians.
After this bombshell hit the news, H.R. McMaster, national security adviser to Trump, spoke to the press about the intel-sharing and made some interesting claims.
McMaster said: “The story that came out tonight as reported is false. The president and the foreign minister reviewed a range of common threats to our two countries including threats to civil aviation. At no time, at no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed. And the president did not disclose any military operations that were not already publicly known.”
He ended by saying: “I was in the room, it didn’t happen.”
The intelligence referred to by the Washington Post relates to a special access program (SAP) “which covers some of the most classified information and is protected with unique access and security protocols.”
According to reports, Trump told Lavrov and Kislyak: “I get great intel. I have people brief me on great intel every day.”
Shortly after the news broke, the White House internally erupted. Yelling between Steve Bannon, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, Communications director Michale Dubke, and deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders could be heard – so much so that White House staffers turned up their televisions to drown out the sounds.
