Tweepify Turns Your Twitter Activity Into a Person

If we are what we tweet, then this is what we look like.

A new tool called Tweepify turns your Twitter activity — how often you tweet, followers-to-following ratio, etc. — into humanoid “tweeple.”

Each body part of the visualization signifies a different aspect of your life on Twitter. Head height signifies number of followers, while head width signifies how many people you follow. Eye height represents how recently you last tweeted. Mouth heigh represents how many followers you gain per day, while mouth width reflects your total number of tweets. Head size corresponds to tweets per day, arm length to the reach of your tweets and leg length to how long you’ve been on the social network.

The example above shows the anthropomorphized Twitter profiles of Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, Paul Ryan, Kelly Ayotte and Chris Christie, all potential running mates for Mitt Romney in this fall’s presidential election. To create your own versions, simply visit the Tweepify site and enter up to five handles into the prominently displayed field at the bottom of the page.

Tweepify was created by brothers Matt, Jason and Brian Bailey. All three are, in Matt’s words, “geeks.” Matt has been a software engineer for tech startups for more than five years. Jason recently finished studying data visualization and interface design at the Dynamic Media Institute in Massachusetts, and Brian also works as a software engineer.

Matt and Jason are also the forces behind the popular basketball data visualization site Hoopism. The three brothers started another site, 3baileys.com, to house other free-time projects.

With Tweepify, Matt says humanoid visualizations were a natural fit to show Twitter activity because people “are instinctually wired to notice subtle differences between the way people look.”
