Two killed on Victoria’s roads

A MAN has died after another driver allegedly crossed onto the wrong side of a Melbourne road, colliding with a semi-trailer which then hit his car.

Police have been told that a 22-year-old woman in a sedan was attempting to overtake a small truck before the collision early today at Plumpton in Melbourne’s north-west.

She is alleged to have crossed onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with a semi-trailer.

The semi-trailer, driven by a 47-year-old man, then collided with a Commodore sedan, police said.

The Commodore’s driver and sole occupant, a 46-year-old Melton West man, died at the scene.

Both the woman and the truck driver are being treated for minor injuries in hospital and are assisting police.

Police are appealing for the driver of the small truck to come forward with any information.

Later this morning, a man died after his car collided with a power pole at Moolap, near Geelong.

The man, in his 20s, is believed to have lost control of his sedan while travelling along Point Henry Rd.

He died at the scene.
