Here’s Today’s Department of Defense Contract Awards

NAVY

General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $429,162,324 modification to previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (N00024-11-C-2111) to exercise an option for design agent, planning yard, engineering ,and technical support for active nuclear submarines. This contract will be incrementally funded with $8,333,669 to be obligated at the time of award. Work will be performed in Groton, Conn. (73 percent); Kings Bay, Ga. (11 percent); Bangor, Wash. (8 percent); Quonset, R.I. (6 percent); and Newport, R.I. (2 percent). Work is expected to completed by October 2012. If fully funded, contract funds in the amount of $186,513,732 will expire at the end of the fiscal year. Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Dakota Creek Industries, Inc., Anacortes, Wash., is being awarded a $74,141,319 fixed-price modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-10-C-2201) for the detail design and construction of the ocean class Auxiliary General Oceanographic Research ship. The effort will also include technical manuals, crew familiarization training, and technical and supply support. The research ships will be a well-equipped modern oceanographic research platform capable of satisfying a wide range of research activities conducted by academic institutions and national laboratories involved in oceanographic research. This contract includes options, which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $145,197,832. Work will be performed in Seattle, Wash. (41 percent); Anacortes, Wash. (38 percent); Alpharetta, Ga. (9 percent); Hood River, Ore. (8 percent); Houston, Texas (2 percent); and Molndal, Sweden (2 percent). Work is expected to be completed by October 2014. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Information Network Systems, Inc./Lockheed Martin Corp. Global Training Logistics, Stafford, Va., is being awarded $6,686,281 for firm-fixed-priced task order 0070 under a previously awarded contract (M67854-02-A-9013) to support the Marine Corps Systems Command Program Manager (PM) Networks and Satellite Communications Systems, and PM for Tactical Communication Systems. The scope of this effort is represented in the following areas: logistics management support, inventory management support, equipment fielding support, deployment fielding support, and management and administration. This effort contains options, which, if exercised, will bring the value to $31,087,481. Work will be performed in Camp Pendleton, Calif. (30 percent); Camp Lejeune, N.C. (30 percent); Okinawa, Japan (15 percent); Afghanistan (15 percent); and Hawaii (10 percent). Work is expected to be completed October 2012. With options exercised, all work is expected to be completed in October 2014. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured by Commercial Enterprise Omnibus Support Services via an electronic request for proposal, with five offers received. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va., is the contracting activity.

DEFENSE LOGISTICS AGENCY

Ricoh Corp., West Caldwell, N.J. (SP7000-12-D-1001); Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc., Arlington, Va. (SP7000-12-D-1002); Xerox Corp., Rosemont, Ill. (SP7000-12-D-1003); and Canon USA, Inc., Arlington, Va. (SP7000-12-D-1004), were each awarded a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-quantity contract for a maximum $225,000,000 for purchase and service production digital copiers. Other locations of performance are as indicated by each task order. Using service is Air Force and Defense Logistics Agency. The date of performance completion is Oct. 13, 2016. The Defense Logistics Agency Document Services, Mechanicsburg, Pa., is the contracting activity.

Choctaw Manufacturing Defense Contractors*, Antlers, Okla., was awarded a firm-fixed-price contract for a maximum $11,916,103 for shipping and storage containers. There are no other locations of performance. Using service is Army. The date of performance completion is Oct. 15, 2015. The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is the contracting activity (SPRRA1-12-D-0010).

DEFENSE ADVANCED RESEARCH PROJECTS AGENCY

Raytheon BBN Technologies Corp., Cambridge, Mass., is being awarded an $8,448,523 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (HR0011-12-C-0014). The Broad Operational Language Technology Program has a goal of creating technology capable of translating multiple foreign languages in all genres, retrieving information from the translated material, and enabling bilingual communication via speech or text. Specifically, this contractor will conduct work for Activity A, “Genre-Independent Translation and Information Retrieval System”; Activity B, “Human-Machine Communication System”; Activity C, “Human-Human Dialogue System”; and Activity D, “Arabic Dialect Components.” Work will be performed in Cambridge, Mass. (65.91 percent); Marina del Rey, Calif. (11.70 percent); New York, N.Y. (9.47 percent); Los Angeles, Calif. (8.05 percent); Chicago, Ill. (1.68 percent); Berkeley, Calif. (1.46 percent); Bedford, Mass. (0.95 percent); Ithaca, N.Y. (0.39 percent); and Philadelphia, Pa. (0.39 percent). The work is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2016. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is the contracting activity.
