This is absolutely the quickest post I have ever done, as I cut and paste the membership list of the American High-Performance Buildings Coalition, just established to defend the use of poison plastics in the building industry. It is the greenwashing joke of the decade. See Tristan at BuildingGreen here for his take. If you don’t want to read the whole thing, you have treated lumber, vinyl, synthetic fabrics, extruded foams, vinyl flooring, siding and windows, greenwashed lumber, it runs the whole gamut.

AFPM is a trade association representing high-tech American manufacturers of virtually the entire U.S. supply of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, other fuels and home heating oil, as well as the petrochemicals used as building blocks for thousands of vital products in daily life.

American Supply Association (ASA)

ASA is a not-for-profit national organization serving wholesale distributors and their suppliers in the plumbing, heating, cooling and industrial (PHCP) and mechanical pipe, valves and fittings (PVF) industry. ASA provides a forum for trading partners from around the country to discuss critical issues facing them, and offers a menu of products and services uniquely geared to their needs.

Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing (CEIR)

The Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing is a trade organization whose mission is to promote the development and use of environmentally responsible, high performance roof systems and technologies. The Center is the leading information source on sustainable roofing and acts as a science-based advocate for the roofing industry.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.

Chemical Fabrics Film Association (CFFA)

CFFA is an international trade association of companies actively engaged in both the manufacture and sale of continuous web chemical fabrics or film. These companies manufacture chemical fabrics and film used in numerous applications such as contract upholstery, vinyl roofing, pool liners and transportation interiors. Suppliers of raw materials, equipment, or services to the industry are eligible for associate membership.

Extruded Polystyrene Foam Association (XPSA)

The Extruded Polystyrene Foam Association (XPSA) is a trade association representing manufacturers of Extruded Polystyrene Foam (XPS) insulation products and the industry’s raw material suppliers. XPSA members collectively manufacture more than 95% of all XPS destined for use in the North American market. XPSA promotes the benefits that accrue to society from appropriate use of XPS foam insulation applications.

EPDM Roofing Association (ERA)

Supports science based, data driven approaches (in the field and in the laboratory) to research in the roofing industry. With members that manufacture both black and reflective roofing membranes, ERA is uniquely positioned to comment on roof selection and design. EPS Industry Alliance (EPS-IA)

EPS-IA supports science based energy code development that advances building efficiencies and enables quick return on energy efficiency investment.

Flexible Vinyl Alliance (FVA)

FVA is a coalition of trade organizations, materials suppliers, compounders, formulators, molders and fabricators, who are currently concerned with regulatory and legislative attempts to debate, limit or “de-select” flexible vinyl products in commerce. The FVA provides messaging and advocacy on the proven safety, economy and utility of flexible PVC, a material used in a wide range of health care, recreational, military, automotive, building, flooring, construction and packaging applications.

National Association of Manufacturers (NAM)

National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA)

National Hispanic Landscape Alliance (NHLA)

The NHLA is a trade association that advances the interests of the more than 500,000 Hispanic families that depend on the landscape industry for their livelihood. Among its many activities, the NHLA promotes the environmental and human health benefits of lawns, and the measurement of input use and ecosystem service value as key to any true sustainability program for landscapes.

Plastic Pipe Fittings Association (PPFA)

PPFA promotes and defends plastic piping systems governed by construction codes. It advances this mission by promoting a regulatory environment in which the superior value of plastic piping products is recognized, providing users with relevant information needed to properly design, specify and install plastic piping systems and promoting an understanding of the environmental impact and benefits of thermoplastic piping products.

Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association (PIMA)

For over 25 years, PIMA, a two time USEPA award recipient, has served as the unified voice of the rigid polyiso industry proactively advocating for safe, cost-effective, sustainable and energy efficient construction. Polyiso is one of the nation’s most widely used and cost-effective insulation products available.

Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI)

Society of Plastics Industry (SPI)

Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA)

Treated Wood Council (TWC)

Vinyl Siding Institute (VSI)

VSI located in Washington, D.C., is the trade association for manufacturers of vinyl and other polymeric siding and suppliers to the industry. VSI is the sponsor of the VSI Product Certification Program and the VSI Certified Installer Program.

Windows Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA)

WDMA is the premier trade association representing the leading U.S. manufacturers of windows, doors and skylights.
