World Cup gives SBS ratings boost

AUSTRALIA’S soccer World Cup qualifying win over Jordan also served up a victory of sorts for SBS Television on Tuesday night.

The international match in Melbourne out-rated both the Network Ten’s MasterChef and the Nine Network’s The Celebrity Apprentice, which is broken into two segments for ratings.

The Socceroos’ 4-0 win, which was a delayed telecast, drew an audience of 761,000 on SBS One and was 13th overall, according to OzTAM ratings.

MasterChef was 15th (715,000 viewers) while The Celebrity Apprentice Boardroom segment was 17th (672,000) and The Celebrity Apprentice Challenge segment was 19th (633,000).

Nine News won the evening with 1.322 million viewers ahead of Seven News (1.262 million), followed by Nine’s renovation series The Block Sky High (1.147 million).
