A Sydney shopkeeper has managed to scare off a knife-wielding robber by swinging a stool at him.
Around 10.15am (AEST) on Monday, a 20-year-old man entered a convenience store in innercity Alexandria and allegedly threatened the shopkeeper with a knife, police say.
But he ran away after the attendant picked up a stool and swung it at him.
Shortly after police spotted the would-be robber nearby and chased him down.
He has since been charged with attempted armed robbery and common assault to appear at Central Local Court on Tuesday.
