2 Palestinians, Israeli killed in Gaza

According to the Israeli public radio, the incident took place on Monday in an area near the south of Gaza where the Tel Aviv regime is constructing the section of a fence between Israel and Egypt, AFP reported.

The radio claimed that Israeli troops opened fire after three Palestinians attacked a convoy of vehicles transporting Israeli construction workers.

Two of the Palestinians and an Israeli construction worker were killed in the incident.

The shooting came several hours after Israeli warplanes attacked an area in southern Gaza City, wounding five Palestinians, including women and children.

On June 17, Israeli tanks and bulldozers carried out an incursion into the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, injuring a Palestinian during the attack.

The Israeli bulldozers also destroyed agricultural land in Deir al-Balah, located about 14 kilometers (8.5 miles) south of Gaza City.

In addition to the attacks in Gaza, an illegal Israeli settler shot dead two Palestinians in the city of al-Khalil in the southern occupied West Bank on Sunday.

Israel conducts attacks against the Gaza Strip on an almost regular basis.

Reports of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian territories come a few days after the United States awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Israeli President Shimon Peres, the man who has overseen the killing of Palestinian women and children by Israeli forces in the occupied territories for decades.

US President Barack Obama awarded the 88-year-old criminal the highest civilian honor in the United States during a dinner ceremony in the White House on June 13.
