A letter exists that was sent to Ratzinger, where at least one pedophile complaint was mentioned, dated September 8, 2003 and signed by the Bishop of Savona and current Cardinal Calcagno.
Cardinal Domenico Calcagno, in the letter, informed Ratzinger the behavior of a priest, Nello Giraudo, accused of pedophilia. And he asked the then head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the “courtesy of some advice” of how to proceed.
