Tar Sands Blockade pressures banks to divest from Keystone XL project, 37 arrested in week of protests

This week, Tar Sands Blockade is engaged in a series of protests directed at bringing attention to the Keystone XL pipeline and banks that profit from these dirty tar sands development. So far, thirty-seven protesters have been arrested.

A press release lists some of the actions taken so far:

On Thursday, the Great Plains Tar Sands Resistance Direct Action Camp in Ponca City, Oklahoma will participate in a protest in Oklahoma City. The video above features individuals from that group discussing the impact of the Keystone XL pipeline on their area.

Tar Sands Action says that they have 18 more actions planned between now and Saturday, March 23rd, including “six more protests against TD Banks in New York City, Washington D.C., Montpellier, VT, Newark, DE, New Haven, CT, and Asheville, NC.”
