Taliban insurgent claims group received money, weapons, documents and instructions from Pakistan


nsnbc : A Taliban insurgent identified as identified as Noor-ul-Haq, who has surrendered to Afghan security forces and joined the peace process says he was receiving money and weapons from Pakistan.

Noor-ul Haq_Taliban_Afghanistan_May 2017The provincial government in Nangahar stated that Noor-ul Haq renounced violence and surrendered to the government due to efforts of the National Directorate for Security.

The Nangahar provincial government added that Haq was operating with the Taliban’s Gulab Sher group and that Haq joined the peace process by renouncing violence and by handing over his weapon to security forces.

Haq was known for his active involvement in insurgency activities in the Nazian and Achin districts of Nangahar during the past six months, stated the provincial government.

Haq, according to the statement, admitted that he was receiving instructions from Pakistan to destroy bridges, culverts, schools, communication towers, and other government infrastructure.

Haq for his part, also stated that the group for which he was conducting operations was receiving money and weapons from Pakistan and that they had special documents which helped them to smoothly travel between the two countries.

The Taliban militant claims he was forced to abandon the Taliban group after some of his relatives were killed for working with the government and the Taliban insurgents had increased their savagery against the civilians.
