Netanyahu drawing red line against Iran at the U.N.

Anger was building after the Sunday Times published a cartoon showing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, building a wall with Palestinians bodies, according to press reports.

Media watchdog group Honest Reporting, has condemned the Sunday Times cartoon depicting Israeli Prime Minister crushing the victims in a blood-spattered wall.

The cartoon was titled, “Will Israeli elections continue to cement peace? Gerald Scarfe’s cartoon shows a monstrous caricature of Benjamin Netanyahu on top a wall that is crushing innocent women and children, with blood oozing from the cracks between the bricks. Scarfe, a respected artist, is perhaps best known for illustrating the album cover of Pink Floyd.

The cartoon appeared in the national newspaper on Sunday, coinciding with the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Honest Reporting said that the inclusion of the image was doubly offensive given the date of the

publication. Israel’s security barrier of which the majority is a fence and a wall is meant to

protect Israeli civilians from Palestinian terrorism, they said.

In any case, the images of this cartoon is equivalent to a blood libel in a day when the millions of Holocaust victims are remembered.

The Sunday Times was also criticized for choosing to demonize Israel, while ignoring the bloodshed in Egypt, Algeria and Syria.
Last year there was outrage after the Guardian published a cartoon of Netanyahu as a puppeteer pulling the strings of world leaders.
