30 Syrian refugees hurt in Turkish camp

The clashes erupted after one of the Turkish security forces tried to harass one of the Syrian female refugees in a camp in Kilis on May 15.

Syrians fled to neighboring Turkey due to the ongoing violence in their country.

The refugees have been camping in Turkish provinces such as Hatay, Gaziantep, Urfa and Kilis near the Syrian border.

UN observers are currently monitoring a ceasefire, which was proposed by UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan in March.

Syria has been the scene of deadly unrest since mid-March 2011 and many people, including security forces, have lost their lives in the violence.

The West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of killing the protesters. But Damascus blames ”outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, stating that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
