Another day of heavy rain for NSW coast

NSW’s mid-north coast can expect another day of heavy rain and possible flash flooding.

Parts of Bellingen, southwest of Coffs Harbour, became inaccessible on Tuesday afternoon as the Bellinger River flooded low-lying areas of the town.

Its only bridge was submerged, 11 roads were closed and several homes suffered minor flooding.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts another miserable day for the region.

“Periods of heavy rain, which may lead to flash flooding, are forecast for the Northern Rivers, mid-north coast, and eastern parts of the Northern Tablelands forecast districts tonight and Wednesday,” the bureau said on its website late on Tuesday.

“There is also the risk of thunderstorms in these areas.”
