A police officer found his parents murdered at their home yesterday.

Avtar and Carole Kolar were found dead after a ‘vicious attack’ at their semi-detached house.

Last night detectives were investigating the possibility that they were targeted by an intruder in a revenge attack in connection with their  son’s police work.

The couple, who had been married for 40 years, had been due to take care of their grandchildren, but had not turned up.

After they failed to answer his phonecalls, their police officer son Jason went to check on them.

He walked into the home to find the bodies of his father, 62, and 58-year-old mother.

Police said it had been ‘obvious  from the scene the couple had been assaulted and had more than likely died of their injuries’.

The Kolars, who have four children and eight grandchildren, were said to be part of a ‘very close and loving family.’

Asked if it could have been a revenge attack linked to their son, Detective Superintendent Richard Baker, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘We are looking at that as a possibility.’
He called the double murder a ‘horrendous’ crime and vowed to work ‘round the clock’ to catch those responsible.

‘This was a very, very close and loving family,’ he said. ‘That is really quite evident from going round and visiting them this morning. It is a very difficult time for them.

‘We are confident that we will bring this case to a swift conclusion and bring the offender to justice.’

The night before the attack, one of the couple’s children had spoken to them about child care arrangements, the police said.

But after members of the family failed
to contact them the next morning, the pair’s worried son Jason went to
their four-bedroom home to check on them.

A woman – believed to be one of their
daughters – was seen ‘crying inconsolably’ at the house when the bodies
were found. Neighbours of the couple told how they had heard an
‘almighty scream’ after the grim discovery at the four-bedroom suburban
home in the Handsworth Wood area of Birmingham.

Resident Shaun Hemmings, 35, said: ‘My wife and I were watching TV when we heard this almighty scream.

‘I looked out of the window and there were swarms of police outside.

‘I saw a woman crying and screaming next to the house. I am so shocked
to hear it is a double murder.’ Police  are keeping an open mind about
what kind of weapon was used.

More than 60 detectives and uniformed officers are thought to be working on trying to crack the case.

The couple’s children, Jason, Michelle, Avtar and Marie, were too upset to comment last night.

A family member said: ‘We just can’t talk about it at the moment. We are
just not in the right frame of mind. Everything is just too raw at the
moment.’

This type of lawlessness is symptomatic of the country we now live in. There is no positive deterrent and ‘human rights’ has taken away the guilt of the perpetrators, THEY are now the persecuted and the world owes THEM a living . They KNOW their lawyers, paid for by the taxpayers (the real persecuted) will get them off with a ‘sob story’. In Singapore where no crime is tolerated, there is very little or no trouble. Zero tolerance with swingeing punishments would stop most of the criminals, petty or otherwise. It doesn’t take a genius to work that one out.

The evil scum who did this deserve to have their life taken away from them, preferably by being hanged!!!

i really wish newspapers didn’t jump to get comments from the family and friends of these poor people. it’s so heartless.

the pair’s worried son Jason went to their four-bedroom home to check on them……………..In light of the seriousness of the crime, is is relevant to the story as to how many bedrooms the house has you’ve already mentioned it was semi detached, the only thing you left out was the value.

What on earth is happening in this country where elderly people are being murdered in their homes ? This makes three in a week if you take into account the teacher murdered in her riverside cottage in Worcestershire. I am afraid that there is no deterrent in the Uk.
. Perhaps if the culprits knew that they would be executed they would think twice ?

If it was a revenge attack looks like the police were right a bit of a bad egg all round.Im sure they will be looking at newly released. If so thats them back in again for a longer time. Start to give decent sentences like 30 yrs and you will diminish this kind of tragedy that is to say if it is a reveng attack .Goodness knows we have allowed all sorts of people into the country failure of government to check properly.

This soft British society, is now seeing what it’s silly lenient attitude to criminals is bringing. The British Government should bring back the death penalty.

How sad, there are some sick, sick people in this world. Rip

Hanging is the only fittimg punishment for this crime. Oh for a goverment led by men instead of mice.

My heart goes out to this family, this is a truly terrible thing to happen. God bless them all.
