175 asylum seekers are spending their second night on Christmas Island – after the boats they were travelling on were intercepted yesterday.
The government confirmed an additional 49 people were found hiding in a concealed deck of one of the vessels
It comes as political debate over the asylum seeker issue heats up – with the PM blaming the opposition leader for the latest arrivals.
Ms Gillard’s accused him of putting lives at risk – by not backing her changes to the Migration Act.
But Tony Abbott is continuing to refuse to back the amendments.
