Compton Sheriffs Forcibly Remove Reporter From Lobby Trying To File A Complaint

Anaheim James is a reporter for inLeague Press and covers a lot of So-Cal activism, like many CopBlockers or video vigilantes, he seeks to keep people safe and expose the truth with this camera. Today there was a scheduling conflict in a court case for Boaz Balenti, another So-Cal activist and the appearance was rescheduled.

As they were leaving, the group who showed up to support Boaz noticed a police officer who was present at a previous protest surveilling  them from a balcony. No one thought this was necessary and decided to go to the sheriff’s department to file a complaint.

Before they were allowed to file their complaint the group of protesters was shoved out of the door by multiple Sheriffs deputies. They then locked the door with a pair of handcuffs. The cuffs prevented the group from attempting to re-enter but not from yelling at the police through the door.

When I talked with A.J. on the phone he told me that it was, “symbolic of how the police deserved to be locked up.”

The group of around 10 cops then set their sights on James who was filming the interaction.

When approached James presents them with a press card and states that his business, although similar to the protesters, is his own. The police, who recognized him from previous actions, didn’t really give a shit what James is there for and multiple officers grab him and drag him out of the station.

The group of cops led by an older Sergeant then lock the door again, preventing the group from entering the building or filing their legitimate complaint.

The behavior of these “public servants” would have been more appropriate for thugs and gang members. A lack of professionalism when dealing with individuals exercising their first amendment rights, as well as a member of press with credentials only proves that the police have no interest in protecting your rights. In fact the police are only interested in one thing: preserving their monopoly on the use of force.

It would appear that the group has another complaint to file against the Compton Sheriffs Department.

If you still think that the police are interested in protecting your rights; pick up a camera, point it at them and see how quickly their demeanor changes.
