Diane Sawyer : Wind, Rain And Snow Caused By Global Warming

“And tonight, the weather gone wild. Winds that come out of nowhere. Floods swelling streets. Heat breaking records in all 50 states. Snow where it hasn’t fallen in decades.”

http://www.newsbusters.org/

Suppose you have 100 weather stations in a state, and a 100 year year record. You would expect to have on average one high temperature record set somewhere in that state every day, or about 30 high temperature records per state per month. The odds of the state going through a month without any station setting a high temperature record are very low.

This is where superstition comes from. People mistakenly believe that something unusual is happening, and then blame it on the witch next door (who has not had as much plastic surgery.)

Take a look into the eyes of this dumb “blonde bimbo”. NOPE! No intelligence is to be found inside that “head”.

  3. Good report from Diane Sawyer, but much too brief.

From NOAA – State of the Climate:

    ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/national/2011/7

The average U.S. temperature in July was 77.0 degrees F (25.0 degrees C), which is 2.7 degrees F (1.5 degrees C) above the long-term (1901-2000) average, resulting in the fourth warmest July and the fourth warmest month on record. Precipitation, averaged across the nation, was 2.46 inches (62.5 mm). This was 0.32 inch (8.1 mm) below the long-term average, with large variability between regions.

Both Oklahoma and Texas had their warmest months on record, with monthly statewide average temperatures of 88.9 degrees F (31.6 degrees C) and 87.1 degrees F (30.6 degrees C), respectively. Oklahoma’s statewide average temperature was the warmest monthly statewide average temperature on record for any state during any month. The previous warmest monthly statewide average temperature was also in Oklahoma, during July 1954, at 88.1 degrees F (31.2 degrees C).

Only seven of the lower 48 states — all west of the Rockies — experienced a July average temperature near or below the 20th century average. The other 41 had a above-normal, much-above-normal, or record warmest July.

Regionally, the South climate region, which includes Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas, had its warmest single calendar month for any climate region since records began in 1895. The average temperature of 86.1 degrees F (30.1 degrees C), bested the previous all-time record of 85.9 degrees F (29.0 degrees C) set in July 1980 in the South climate region.

Dallas exceeded 100 degrees F (37.8 degrees C) on 30 of the 31 days during July. In Oklahoma City, July was the warmest single calendar month with an average temperature of 89.2 degrees F (31.8 degrees C), besting the previous record of 88.7 degrees F (31.5 degrees C) set in August 1936. Further east, Washington DC (National AP) also had its warmest single calendar month on record. The average temperature of 84.5 degrees F (29.2 degrees C) smashed the previous record of 83.1 degrees F (28.4 degrees C) set in July 2010 and July 1993.

Other selected monthly and daily records can be viewed here: July 2011 Climate Extremes

Precipitation during July was variable across the country. Wetter-than-normal conditions occurred along parts of the Gulf Coast, all of the Pacific Coast, and much of the upper Midwest. Dry anomalies prevailed in most other locations. July offered no relief to the parched soils of Texas and Oklahoma where it was the second (tied) and ninth driest July on record, respectively. Additionally, Texas has had five straight months in which average precipitation ranked in the bottom ten driest. Meanwhile, it was the eighth wettest July on record for California — this during a month which is typically quite dry for most of the state.

  4. You must be kept in a constant state of FEAR.

If that fails the average american will start to think…(Not deeply, but a little is a lot)

And when they realize the state their country is in….. Boom…. riots in the streets and all the TRAITORS DIE.

But it is quite disappointing how pussified you have all become.

Even pommy kids get out for a bit of a kick around party.

Yes, climate destabilization and passing tipping points which could lead to a methane catastrophe fills me with a mild sense… of boredom.

Does that make me shallow, stupid- possibly brain damaged?

Does that mean that human beings are too stupid to allow a functioning, self-regulating biosphere to simply continue regulating itself, free from massive interference from trillions of tons of CO2 from fossil fuels?

    No, of course not.

Glen and I are the smartest men who have ever lived!

turn off the volcanoes, the black smokers, and stop the ocean growing islands then, you sub-standard arrogant dipstick!

you do realise, that mass production of “oil” is not a “new” thing to human society, right?

oil has been used as water proofing for viking raiders clothing, scents in ancient egypt, fuel for torches and lamps in the times of alexander, and of course, a stable source of, wait for it, carbo-hydrates for human muscle tissue to use as storable energy!

oh yes, sir “dumb-dumb”……….i know that a hydro-caron and a carbo-hydrate, are the same thing when all is said and done and where true science is concerned……..and considering that co2 is only 1/3 carbon, tell me, why are you taxing oxygen production? ultimately, any “excess” co2 means more oxygen for us all to breathe, purely on mathematical probability….and you know that egghead!

quit with the bullshit already, before someones country gets fucked up because of it……..and i’m looking at YOUR country, fool!

  5. Question, where was Washington’s and Oregon’s heat breaking records according to MS. Sawyer?
Even your cut paste points out that seven states west of the Rockies were cooler. The nearest official weather station to my location was 89 degrees last month, not ninety and still looking for that temperature.

Yeah…every time I put a pot of water on the burner to boil, it “snows, then freezes over” before it begins to boil.

    Global Warming? BULLSHIT!

    Bravo2…….out

  7. I find it interesting that the pundits that talk the most about the weather and its anomolies are law or journalism majors. Find me a talking head that can solve complex variable calculus then I will start listening. Until then the greenies need to go back down into the basement, shut the door behind them, and change their diapers.
