A sophisticated new camera system can detect lies just by watching our faces as we talk.

The computerised system uses a simple video camera, a high-resolution thermal imaging sensor and a suite of algorithms.

Researchers say the system could be a powerful aid to security services.

It successfully discriminates between truth and lies in about two-thirds of cases, said lead researcher Professor Hassan Ugail from Bradford University.

  1. I posted this back in 08 or 09:

Your Fundamental Right to Keep Your Thoughts… Your Own… May Be A Thing Of The Past!

A woman in India has already been convicted of murder by brain scan results!

You can be forced by the courts to give up blood, DNA and hair samples… what about brain waves… possibly done covertly or remotely?

By projecting a beam of light onto the forehead through the frontal cortex of your brain! The complexities of thought processes… expected to be configured within 3-5 years!?

The silver bullet against terrorism that will render waterboarding and other interrogation methods obsolete… eliciting truth will no longer be problematic! Does this make it sound worth it?

    See video…

    • It looks as if they got the timing right…

  2. I”m pretty sur after watching several hours Bush and Obama speaking this camera system will destroy itself.

  3. The system catches unease in subjects under duress.

  4. Now we’ll be able to catch all the liars in Washington. What a great invention, look out Barry, Obama or whatever you name is!

    • LOL

  5. Gads, someone could be assumed to be lying if they ate something bad for lunch and then had to undergo questioning with this stupid camera. Most people would perhaps be seen as lying, since anyone who can think (not the 85% of the sheeple) for themselves would be considered lying because unconsciously they simply don’t want to go thru this process.

Whatever happened to ‘innocent until proven guilty’?? Since use of this camera system would pretty much determine the person was guilty until proven innocent.

More systems of surveillance, thought police that will tell you want you can think, what you can say, how you live your daily lives. Someone needs to use a Genesis device on this planet and wipe the slate clean.. of everything and everyone and start over from scratch!

  6. If they try to use this camera to detain or even arrest people, we will see alot of dead cops and TSA security guards. The thought police will end up in lots of bidy bags.

  7. Can you all say:

    Here comes the thought police.

    • What am I thinking now?

  8. What a great tool in the wrong hands and there are many bad hands around.
Lets say the cops want to put you away because they need to meet a quota. They could fake the response and claim you are liar and you can not argue the fact.

The claim could be computer does not make mistakes according to the manufactor.
There will be little need for courts and the people will be without rights either pay the fine or go to jail.

  9. Most Americans I’ve met, either constantly lie all the time or embellish their stories of past deeds to such great heights it becomes embarrassing. So, why does America need these flash and expensive cameras if Americans are assumed to be telling a lie every time they speak??

  10. I watched a show years ago, they were using these computor programs to watch and detect behaviour in inmates at the max prisons. Doesn’t surprise me they have a civilian version. Im guessing they didn’t test it on themselves.

  11. 2/3 success rate? what a joke!

  12. well maybe they can test it on the top 500 starting with the fed and the president himself.

    • Amen use it in these debates
