FIFA to decide on headscarf and technology in July
BAGSHOT, England (Reuters) – FIFA deferred a final decision on whether Islamic women can play in a headscarf, or hijab, until July when they will also make their long-awaited decision on what goal-line technology system to employ. The annual meeting of the game’s ultimate law-making body, the International Football Association Board, decided on Saturday to test the specially designed headscarf further before a final decision is taken in a special meeting in Kiev on July 2. BAGSHOT, England (Reuters) – FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke made a scathing attack on Brazil’s preparations for the 2014 World Cup on Friday, saying “not a lot is moving” and organisers needed “a kick up the backside”. Villas-Boas has been the subject of intense scrutiny in recent weeks with the London club in a form slump and media reporting a rift with several players. “It is one of the most difficult jobs in the world,” the Portuguese told British newspapers. “(But) I would never resign. “I would never give up. Chelsea say Stamford Bridge expansion unlikely
LONDON (Reuters) – Chelsea are unlikely to be able to expand their Stamford Bridge ground to accommodate a new 60,000 or 55,000-capacity stadium, the club said on Friday. “It is clear to the board a complete new build of a 60,000-seat stadium has little chance of acceptability,” the 2010 Premier League champions said on their website (www.chelseafc.com). “We believe that, after discussions with the local council, they have (also) come to the same conclusion. …
