Zolfaqari who took part in the Non-Professional Category of the contest, won the gold medal of the ‘Other’ category of the event’s Press section for her photograph titled ‘Differences.’

She ranked third in the same section following Miguel Candela and Vijay Subramanian.

Jonathan Knowles from Britain was selected as the best Photographer of the Year, and Miguel Candela from Spain was selected the Best New Talent of the 2012 edition of the event.

Winning photographs from this competition will be displayed in a high-profile gallery in Paris and published in the high-quality, full-color Px3 Annual Book.

Zolfaqari has also won the 2009 honorable mention of the Prix de la Photographie, Paris (Px3) competition for a color photograph on the theme of ‘water’.

Hamideh Zolfaghari studied photography in San Jose State University, California, and her pictures create a link between the nomadic life of various tribes in Iran and the life of Iranians in modern-day Tehran.

Zolfaghari has been working as a UNICEF photographer since 1999 and has participated in numerous art shows in France, Switzerland, the US and the UK.

The book ‘Tehran’, which includes works by Zolfaghari and renowned Iranian photographer Nasrollah Kasraian, features some of her best works displaying the rapid shift from traditionalism to modernity in the Iranian capital.

According to the Prix de la Photographie, Paris (Px3) website, the French contest aims to promote the appreciation of photography, to discover emerging talent, and to introduce photographers from around the world to the artistic community of Paris.
