French Government dissolved Groups linked to Lagny-sur-Marne Mosque

nsnbc : The French government banned and dissolved three groups linked to the Lagny-sur-Marne mosque in eastern Paris. The mosque was closed down in December 2015 following deadly terrorist attacks in November.

Bernard Cazeneuve_France_Interior MinisterFrench Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve reiterated that the decision to close the mosque was made because the Lagny-sur-Marne mosque was the center for a terrorist recruitment network.

Cazeneuve stressed that the leaders of the mosque over the past years had incited hatred and called for Muslims that frequented the mosque to commit to jihad.

Weapons, munitions and what was described as “jihadist documents” were allegedly found when police ransacked the mosque.

The closure of the Lagny-sur-Marne mosque and the police raid coincided with the implementation of emergency laws that were put in place came in response to terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2015 that claimed 130 lives.

The attacks were attributed to the self-proclaimed Islamic State a.k.a ISIS, ISIL or Daesh. It is noteworthy that some of the perpetrators were well-known by French and other European intelligence and security services.

Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve commented on the ban on and the discontinuation of the so-called “cultural groups” that were linked to the Lagny-sur-Marne mosque, saying that “there is no place in the Republic for structures that provoke and call for terrorism”.

The former leader and president of the mosque had fled France for Egypt, along with some 10 fellow worshipers in 2014. The mosque has reportedly been linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. The organization has been outlawed in Egypt and in several other Middle Eastern countries.

In November 2014 the United Arab Emirates (UAE) outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood after consultations with the Egyptian government. The UAE also banned associated organizations as well as a cohort of other organizations; Among them NGOs linked to the CIA.

The former president and owner of the Lagny-sur-Marne mosque fled France after being accused of being implicated in the indoctrination, radicalization and the recruitment of volunteers for insurgencies in Syria.
