Alarmist predictions that the long-term health effects of the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan will be worse than those following Chernobyl in 1986 are likely to aggravate harmful psychological effects of the incident. That was the warning heard at an international conference on radiation research in Warsaw, Poland, this week.

One report, in UK newspaper The Independent, quoted a scientist who predicted more than a million would die, and that the prolonged release of radioactivity from Fukushima would make health effects worse than those from the sudden release experienced at the Chernobyl nuclear reactor in Ukraine.

“We’ve got to stop these sorts of reports coming out, because they are really upsetting the Japanese population,” says Gerry Thomas at Imperial College London, who is attending the meeting. “The media has a hell of a lot of responsibility here, because the worst post-Chernobyl effects were the psychological consequences and this shouldn’t happen again.”

  1. So the Media caused the problems for the people

    What a load of Gibberish

    Bigest DOUCHEBAG in the universe.

And The Media said NOTHING, it was the independent news sources that reported the extent of this.

  2. The psychological “problem” is that people are waking-up and are vocalizing their discontent with the lies.

  3. Expert says million will die from Fukushima.
    Easy and well explained.

By the way, don’t eat food in Europe, Don’t eat food in Asia, in America in in in … for at least 600 years. Can you hold out that long?

  4. … and can somone explain how the radiation can increase from a usual 20 – to max. of 400 CPM to 20 000 CPM in some places in Canada at the beginning of August? It’s also a new record never measured befoe.

Seems the NEW PM’s policy to increase the downplaying the danger that has net fully set-in yet.

    No grace period for liars.

  5. Talk about your rose colored glasses

  6. be calm and die japan ….your hurting our adgenda …….what a payed off puppet of the moneychanger scumfucks period…..what japan ought to do is rid there country of the scumfucks with till there last breath to show the world what has happen to them and give some balls to the rest of the world to do the same ….to light a light blub like this is the highest of crimes against humanity period …..what a complete idiot this guy is …i dont care how worthless paper he brings to the table sheeesh

  7. CPM is not what radiation is measured in. That’s what contamination is measured in, which contrary to what you might argue IS NOT the same thing. You really should get a scientific expert to provide data and to perform experimentation to backup your findings. There are many things that could cause contamination to be seen by a geiger counter. Alpha contamination (which is extremely short-lived and can be shielded by nothing more than a piece of paper) provide scientific data not some joe blow walking around in a field with a geiger counter please.

it’s about background radiation with new records. alpha rays trvelling alone? You think so?
CPM = counts per minute. It is telling … regardless of waht others say. The worst is still to come.

Oh, there’ll be fights that it can’t be proven then. I think the fight has already begun with the new policy of harmless “accident” now. Before it was stable, with no further explanation ever made.

Don’t you see the bold move behind it.

Counts per minute (CPM)The counts per minute is an aggregate measurement that detects all decay events at a particular point. This could be alpha particles, beta particles or mixed gamma/beta, gamma/alpha, alpha/beta actual decays. This can be used with a conversion factor, knowing the type and composition of materials to convert to Roentgen or Coulomb per kilogram. Counts per minute can be useful when detector efficiency is in question.

  8. Hey Doc,

How about this one, THE PEOPLE WILL BE HEALTHIER IF THEY DONT KNOW THAT WILL GET BONE CANCER AND LEUKEMIA.

Where is this smuck from. Harvard??? Another NWO useful idiot.

MSNBC= MORE SNOTTY NOSE BITCHES COMUNISM

Fair enough Bones, this was your phrase but you stole my Carnie barker phrase.

  9. Here is my preiction Georgio so mark it down.

The entire population of Japan will not die from radiation. Their primary problem of worrying will be cured when the entire continent sinks into the Marians trench from a earth shaking quake before the end of September.

GE BRINGS GOOD THINGS TO DEATH. BE SURE TO GET THAT SMART METER LIBS.

    MARK IT DOWN BONES.

  10. Tepco Reports Second Deadly Radiation Reading at Fukushima Plant

Tokyo Electric Power Co. reported its second deadly radiation reading in as many days at its wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant north of Tokyo.

The utility known as Tepco said yesterday it detected 5 sieverts of radiation per hour in the No. 1 reactor building. On Aug. 1 in another area it recorded radiation of 10 sieverts per hour, enough to kill a person “within a few weeks” after a single exposure, according to the World Nuclear Association.

Radiation has impeded attempts to replace cooling systems to bring three melted reactors and four damaged spent fuel ponds under control after a tsunami on March 11 crippled the plant. The latest reading was taken on the second floor of the No. 1 reactor building and will stop workers entering the area.

“This does emphasize what care has to be taken,” Richard Wakeford, a visiting professor of epidemiology at the University of Manchester’s Dalton Nuclear Institute in England, said in a telephone interview. “They have to put robots into those areas where they might expect high radiation levels. It’s no real substitute for human access.”

The 10 sieverts of radiation detected on Aug. 1 outside reactor buildings was the highest the Geiger counters used were capable of reading, indicating the level could have been higher, Junichi Matsumoto, a general manager at the utility, said at a press conference.

“In the area surrounding the breach of containment you’d expect high levels of contamination and those high levels would be difficult to predict,” Wakeford said. “You can dig them up if they’re on the soil and contain it or wash it down if it’s on the side of a building.”

so everything is OK since then, August 1. 10 sievert is peanuts, lol
