A 15-year-old girl has been killed in a trail bike collision on a dirt track in south-eastern Victoria.

Police say the girl was riding a dirt bike at Koo Wee Rup, south-east of Melbourne, about 3:30pm yesterday.

A 14-year-old girl was riding as a passenger on the back of the bike.

The girls were near Beatties Road when they collided head-on with a 22-year-old man.

The 15-year-old died at the scene.

The 14-year-old passenger has been flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne in a critical condition.

Paramedics flew the 22-year-old rider to The Alfred Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Intensive care paramedic Bryan Chesson said all the young people involved suffered head, limb and facial injuries.

“This is an absolute tragedy. It’s three young people having some fun. They were on their dirt bikes,” he said.

“They’ve come to grief with significant injury.”

Police are investigating what caused the fatal crash and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
