HEAVILY-ARMED police in the NT are searching for a man wanted by NSW police in relation to the murder of a man known as ‘Ned Kelly’.
The 54-year-old man’s body was found with a hat in place of his head in Northern NSW last week; in an eerie similarity to the body of Ned Kelly the bushranger – whose remains were found in Victoria last year without a skull.
Commander Richard Bryson from the Northern Territory Crime Division said his team is looking for a man named Jonathon Andrew Stenberg in relation to the murder of the man known as Ned Kelly on June 21.
“He is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached if sighted, and for Police to be contacted immediately on Triple-0.
“Police have set up a road block on a number of roads around Darwin.
“Members of the public are urged to not approach strangers and to stay indoors. While we do not wish to cause panic the public’s safety is our number one priority,” Commander Bryson said.
Mr Kelly was described yesterday as a quiet man who didn’t spend much time with neighbours or friends.
