If you put a six-month-old boxer dog and a herd of cows together you might expect a recipe for disaster.
But one dog’s close encounter in a field led to a heartwarming getting to know you session.
Filmed out on one of her favourite walking routes across Newcastle’s
Town Moor, the funny meeting sees the dog, named Lucy, approach the herd, who come in for a closer look.

Surrounded: Lucy the boxer dog makes some new friends during a walk with her owner in Tyneside
For a split second it appears that trouble may be on the way as a large black cow flinches when first approached by Lucy.
The cows then surround the fearless dog as she hits the ground, waiting to see their reaction.
As
she lies in wait, the cows all close in for a better look, or smell,
while the equally-curious boxer also sniffs out her new found friends.
Trouble brewing? Lucy the six-month-old boxer comes nose with a big cow at the beginning of the video
Come and say hello! The boxer puppy hits the deck and the cows make a beeline for her
At least half the herd get up close
and personal with Lucy, nose to nose – but, there is no animosity
between the creatures, just curiosity it seems.
The footage was actually filmed a year ago but has recently been thrust into the limelight thanks to an American TV show.
Simon said: ‘The cows came over and they looked
interested and so I started filming.
And you are? Lucy greets two other cows during the heartwarming exchange
Hi, what’s your name? Lucy comes face to face with a new bunch of friends
‘Lucy was really calm about it and it really looked like they were
communicating. I don’t know if the cows maybe thought she was a calf.
‘She’s got a very gentle and curious nature.’
In the last few days the video’s views on YouTube hit over 600,000.
God nose what will happen next: Another cow inspects their new companion
Altogether now: Four cows all sniff out their fearless new mate at the same time

Its not wise walking through a field of cows with a dog…Cows are very curious and have been known to trample people to death…Having had a very bad experience many years ago without a dog, i certainly wouldnt go near a herd with one…

I find this interesting. The dog offered obsequience to a herd of cows and they accepted. Just goes to show that there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

We have two Boxer dogs who get exactly the same reaction from Cows. Whenever we walk along our local cycle track, which passes by fields which often have cows in them, they come over to see the dogs and will follow them all the way down the fence until we pass by.
The Cows come right up top the fence without any fear and want to interact with the Boxers with nose to nose contact.
Same thing use to happen with our first Boxer some years ago.

@- Life long Boxer Owner, Wiltshire, 23/1/2012 Is that all you can say? Hmmmm, he´s a boxer dog! So, we call a man in a boxing ring, wearing boxing gloves – a boxer too. There you have it: a boxer (who´s a dog) and a boxer (who´s a man). Maybe we should change the title of the human to fighter? Pathetic … and yes, you just happen to be a “Life Long Boxer Owner”, of course, you do!

Wow, Dave, calm down! I really rattled your cage there didn’t I? The breed is Boxer, not Boxer Dog, like you are called David, not David Man. Also, without the DM’s wrongly worded headline were you expecting to see, and this is so you aren’t confused further, a ‘Boxer Man’? Because thats what you’d call them, yeah? And I’ve been either in a family or owned Boxers since I was two so I’d say that is pretty much Life Long.

Perhaps they are checking out the dog to see if it is the calf which was stolen from each of them to provide us with milk.

How cute. I love how the dog looks back at her owners then kneels down again with her tail wagging. Looks like she loves the attention.

Hmmm…would `Jane, Ilkeston UK` like to to see the hospital/doctors stats for treatment to people attacked by, ” Boxer dogs…who do not have a nasty bone in their body”.
Any animal, if provoked or tormented enough, will attack another animal or human being!!
