How Washington’s help effects Iraq

Alwaght- While some parties are trying to promote the US policy, some even go beyond that, highlighting the need to establish coalitions with Washington. Still, some others are surprised by declining awareness of some Arab politicians who are not learning from the history that the US holds no real allies. Perhaps this fact takes us to Iraq as an example of a country destroyed by the US policy, the same policy that is still trying to do so.

Some Iraqi parties are attempting to break up with the national unity which is guaranteed by the power of the popular forces as well as political and military public activities. These parties insist on returning to Washington as their ally, an issue creating sufferings for the Iraqi people, the last ones of which were the plights of ISIS’ terror activities. Besides, such tendency to the US has made Iraq lose weight in the regional balance of power, as it was influential in Turkish incursion into the Iraqi territory and its stationing troops in Iraq’s north.

The historical and quick decline of Iraq made Baghdad a major target of Washington, as it is still so. The history could tell us about the size of the destruction and demolition brought forth by the US policy in the country. This can be summarized as follows:

– Washington, through its strategic policies in Iraq, has paved the way for the terrorism in the country. To ensure achievement of this goal, the US has started hitting the government institutions as well as the country’s army, an act resulting in dissolution of the Iraq’s military which meant that Iraq has been left without strong military forces able to protect the nation.

– The biggest danger appeared right after the US forces’ exit from Iraq, which has left many hazards behind. Following the withdrawal, the US has kept strengthening the wave of terrorism it has already created, to be its tool in confronting the Iraqi people for making them bow to its demands. The battle of anti-terror military coalition is the best evidence for that. Washington is responsible for delay of liberation operations of a large number of the Iraqi cities held by ISIS by its direct and open support for the terror forces at the battlefield and through the air, making Iraq pay dearly in all levels including the human costs.

– The last fruit of trusting Washington and ignoring the national interests was Turkey’s deployment of military forces to northern Iraq’s territories. Perhaps some people ask about the benefits of Washington from the Turkish incursion. Here is the answer:

According to the published information, Ankara holds nearly 3000 troops on Iraq’s soil at the current time. Despite the fact that these Turkish forces presently lack the adequate power to carry out military operations, because they could be brought under attacks, their presence serves the American interests which are as follows.

– Such a Turkish military deployment in Iraq is a result of overlooking the high-level national interests and reposing hope on the abroad, including Washington while Iraq holds the potentials to rise without reliance to abroad. But some politicians’ betting on the US has made Iraq stripped of its local and regional deterrence factors, an issue making many sides dare slight Iraq’s sovereignty. This is largely serving Washington’s goals.

– On the other side, Turkey has made efforts to highlight its military and political place in northern Iraq. That is why it has deployed military vehicles like tanks and a commandos unit near the places held by ISIS terror organization in Iraq’s Mosul. Ankara has earlier announced that it was ready to use its forces in Iraq in association with the Iraqi Kurdistan region’s government. By saying so, Turkey has attempted to send military messages to both Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and ISIS terrorist group, both of which are considered by Ankara as terror organizations. Here, and regardless of the Turkish pragmatism in dealing with the terror of ISIS, such a field reality could be used as an advantage by the US once Washington decides to do so.

– Militarily, what is called a primary deployment is actually a prelude to a wider ground offensive or at least the snap tactical reaction. This is what Turkey would think about should it feels that a ground operation is needed. This feeling of necessity is, in turn, tied to the Turkish interests and to the regional balance of power.

– Geopolitically speaking, the places where the Turkish military forces have been deployed are close to the Mosul, a city which Turkey considers as a dream place which should be returned to the so-called Ottoman Empire. This approach has pushed Ankara to cozy up to Atheel al-Nujaifi, the former governor of Mosul.

According to all these, the size of the results produced by disregard of Iraq as a sovereign state is made crystal clear. While some sides in Iraq have gone beyond simply slighting Iraq’s statehood, some others have set their trust on the Americans as a guarantee of their political future, failing to learn lessons from the past of the US’ disloyalty to its pledges and commitments as Washington’s policy has brought forth no products but devastation to the region.

There is no adequate time to take risks or adventure with the Iraqi people’s future. On the contrary, there must be confidence that Iraq holds all the requirements of rising afresh on all levels, the most significant of which are the Public Mobilizations Forces which are able to repel any attempt of disregard of Iraq’s sovereignty. But the more important case is the necessity for Iraqis to rise in the face of all plots designed by the US to divide the country and destroy its bonds of unity and strength.

The military deterrence is the most important factor in the present time. It needs to be accompanied by political positions to deter any US exploitation of Iraq in all of the upcoming events, on top of them is the battle of Mosul in which Washington would do as its interests dictate. So, why some sides are betting on the US while the clear result of that is disregard of the US sovereignty, which has encouraged the Turkish incursion.
