Human rights abuser secures Olympics

British officials have been heavily criticized for their decisions regarding the 2012 London Olympics ranging from their choice of a logo for the events, which critics believe spells the word Zion, to eliminating information about countries’ capitals on the official website of the London Olympics.

On 30 April, 2012, the official website of the 2012 London Olympics described Israel as a country without a capital. The space for Israel’s capital in the profile London Olympics website was left empty as Jerusalem (Al-Quds) was listed as Palestine’s capital.

However, one day later on 1 May, none of the countries listed on the website contained any information about their capitals.

This time questions are arising even from the British Parliament over selecting UK-based G4S, accused of human rights abuses in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, as the “official provider of security and cash services for the Olympics.”

The G4S has already taken on 10,400 new employees for the London Olympics. At the same time, this company is in charge of security systems at one of the Israeli regime’s detention center where the Palestinians, including children, are held and tortured.

“This is basically the privatization of the British police force. It’s being sucked in by the G4S,” said investigative journalist Tony Gosling in an interview with Russia’s English news channel Russia Today.

“They are bidding for contracts in Birmingham and elsewhere to actually operate detention facilities inside existing police stations,” Gosling added.
