Hunger-striking journalist in Israeli jails at brink of death

Days of Palestine, Jerusalem -Palestinian hunger-striking journalist inside Israeli prisons Mohamed al-Qeeq at brink of death, Palestinian Authority (PA) official said on Friday.

Hiba Masalha, the lawyer of the PA Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs said that Al-Qeeq’ condition was worsening with every passing moment.

Masalha has been visiting Al-Qeeq in the Israeli HaEmek Hospital in Al-Afula for more than ten days, since the Israeli occupation permitted to her.

On Thursday at night, Al-Qeeq’s family called for the Israeli occupation to immediately releasing due to the dramatic deterioration of his health condition.

Fayhaa Shalash, Al-Qeeq’s wife, said blamed the international community, as well as the Palestinian factions for the potential death of her husband.

Al-Qeeq has been on hunger strike for 81 days. “He entered a very dangerous stage,” lawyer Masalha said, stating that several body organs have already stopped working.

“He is on the brink of death, and we might hear news of his martyrdom at any moment, especially due to fears that he might suffer from a stroke,” she added.
