Police are treating a fire that gutted a home in the NSW Hunter region as suspicious.
Firefighters arrived at the Metford house, near Newcastle, about 8.15pm (AEST) on Monday to find it engulfed in flames.
The 58-year-old resident had left her property locked up the day before and no one was inside when the building caught fire.
