AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Tuesday ordered a halt to maintenance work in the Ibrahimi mosque in Al-Khalil.
Zeid Al-Jabari, the director of Al-Khalil Awkaf, told Quds Press that the Israeli military commander in the liaison office told him of the decision at the pretext that one of the tools were used in attacking an Israeli soldier.
He said that the commander told him that maintaining the roof and fence of the mosque would be halted after a Palestinian man used a chisel in attacking a soldier on Monday evening.
Jabari refused the commander’s orders, which also included cooperating with the Israeli army in the maintenance work, saying that it was the sole responsibility of the Awkaf.
