Iran FM Zarif ends African tour

IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif concluded his five-day tour to Africa on Friday morning and left Niamey for Tehran.

Zarif, heading a high-ranking economic-political delegation, arrived in Niger on Thursday evening and held talks with the country’s senior officials, including Niger president, prime minister, and foreign minister.

Prior to visiting Niger, Zarif was in Uganda where he attended Iran-Uganda business forum, met with the country’s high-ranking officials, opened a joint medical center as well as conferred with Iranian resident in the African country.

Zarif visited South Africa, as the first stop of his tour to Africa. In Pretoria, he attended a joint trade forum. The Iranian foreign minister also took part in the 13th joint Iran-South Africa economic committee.

The committee was concluded by signing a final statement on joint cooperation on agriculture, fishery, transportation, shipping, banking, investment, nanotechnology and biotechnology.
