The former UN chief also stressed Tehran’s participation in the Syria Contact Group meeting, which is due to be held in Geneva, on June 30.
The remarks come a day after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized Iran’s involvement in the international conference on Syria.
Meanwhile, Arab League’s deputy secretary general Ahmed Bin Hilli deputy secretary general Ahmed Ben Hilli has underscored the need for Iran’s participation in the international conference on Syria.
“In my view, all the players taking part in the Syrian crisis must be part of this contact group,” he said on June 21.
Since mid-March 2011, Syria has been experiencing unrest. Many people, including security forces, have been killed in the turmoil.
While the West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of the killings, Damascus blames ”outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
