FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Israeli Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Benny Gantz told the Israeli parliament on Tuesday that the Israeli regime could face a large-scale conflict in case of such an attack.
“We need to take into consideration what will remain after we act and whose hands it will fall into,” he said.
Gantz also stated that the Syrian army is guarding such weapons and that it has “even increased security.”
The comments come a few days after Israeli Minister for Military Affairs Ehud Barak said that Israeli might attack Syria if the Arab country ‘transferred weapons of mass destruction to Lebanon.’
“I have instructed the military to increase its intelligence preparations and prepare what is needed so that… (if necessary)… we will be able to consider carrying out an operation,” he said.
However, Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi told reporters in Damascus on July 23 that Syria “will not use any chemical or other unconventional weapons against its civilians, and will only use them in case of external aggression.”
The Israeli regime is trying to pave the way for an attack on Syria by exploiting the excuse that chemical weapons in the Arab state might fall into other hands.
In 2003, the United States invaded Iraq under the pretext that Baghdad possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) in the country. However, no WMDs were ever discovered in Iraq after the US invasion of the country.
