On Saturday, Shaul Mofaz, the head of the Kadima party, proposed to bring forward the date for the elections to October 16th, Ha’aretz reported.
He warned that Kadima will facilitate a bill to dissolve the Knesset if the cabinet does not follow through.
His comments come while Labor Party leader Shelly Yacimovich and Meretz Party leader Zehava Gal-On are expected to introduce a Knesset motion calling for the dissolution of parliament.
Meanwhile, the chair of Netanyahu’s largest coalition partner — Yisrael Beiteinu — has announced that he no longer feels bound to the coalition.
General elections are currently slated to be held in October 2013.
