According to the source, the abduction took place on Sunday and the whereabouts of the abductee is still unknown.
The unnamed source added that the security employee was near the embassy building when men came by in a car and took him by force.
Following the incident, security measures have been tightened up across Sana’a, particularly near the Italian embassy.
The kidnappers are reportedly from local tribes who demanded the Yemeni security officials to release their detained relatives and return their land in Sana’a.
Kidnapping is not uncommon in Yemen. Nearly all those kidnapped have, however, been freed unharmed.
