The lavatory project is a similar oasis, although not for men as it is only
for women.
The toilet-with-a-view cost a hefty Y10 million (£77,874) – which some have
criticised as being a waste of public funds at a time when the nation is
being asked to tighten its belt – but an official of Ichihara told national
broadcaster NHK that the town hopes to recoup its outlays by turning the
lavatory into a tourist attraction.
