NOTE:  The Northern Mariana Islands including Saipan, Tinian and Rota make up a Commonwealth of the U.S.

Russ Mason Mariana MugIf Typhoon Soudelor was one of the most destructive to ever hit the commonwealth, Tropical Storm Champi was certainly one of the wettest.

As reported on KSPN Friday evening, nearly a foot of water fell on Saipan, and I think most of it ended up in our house.

We had water seeping through the windows, from the ceilings and under the doors. We have no more dry towels.

My lovely wife Ulan did yeoman’s work dragging the plants inside from the patio as the wind howled and rain gushed around her. She was drenched. The dogs and cat were drenched also.

“Why didn’t you tell me it was going to be this bad?” she wailed.

“I didn’t know!” I wailed back.

mariana islandsAs I write this, on Saturday, in retrospect Champi was a nasty, unrelenting storm. Of course Soudelor was far worse, but Champi went on all day — and we could see the debris flying around. Not the best day to fly a kite.

I give deep thanks and gratitude to Gary Sword, Rosemary, and the folks at KKMP. They provided timely updates, happy encouragement to the listeners and a great mix of music — including Christmas carols (great idea). It made the lousy storm bearable.

Anyhow I hope that’s the last big storm we see for a long, long time. But that is probably an idle wish, especially with talk of El Niño disrupting the weather patterns.

But there’s something else, something far more sinister: deliberate weather modification by a secret technology called an “ionospheric heater.” In Alaska, there’s a vast electronic array named HAARP, which stands for High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program.

You have probably never heard of it, but that’s because you’re not supposed to.

What follows has been taken from the following website:

Background of the HAARP Project, prepared by Rosalie Bertell, Ph.D., GNSH

“Military interest in space became intense during and after World War II because of the introduction of rocket science, the companion to nuclear technology. The early versions include the buzz bomb and guided missiles. They were thought of as potential carriers of both nuclear and conventional bombs.

“Rocket technology and nuclear weapon technology developed simultaneously between 1945 and 1963. During this time of intensive atmospheric nuclear testing, explosions at various levels above and below the surface of the earth were attempted. Some of the now familiar descriptions of the earth’s protective atmosphere, such as the existence of the Van Allen belts, were based on information gained through stratospheric and ionospheric experimentation.”

Further down the web page is the following, written by Dr. Nick Begich and Jeane Manning:

“HAARP: the High frequency Active Auroral Research Program.

“An Alaskan political activist and science researcher in Anchorage, Alaska, Nick Begich, networked with Patrick and Gael Crystal Flanagan, who are self-described TechnoMonks living in Sedona, Arizona. Begich’s research led to articles and the book, ‘Angels Don’t Play this HAARP: Advances in Tesla Technology,’ which is 230 pages of detailed information on this intrusive project.

“HAARP can zap the upper atmosphere with a focused and steerable electromagnetic beam. It is an advanced model of an ‘ionospheric heater.’ (The ionosphere is the electrically charged sphere surrounding Earth’s upper atmosphere. It ranges between 40 to 600 miles above Earth’s surface).

“Put simply, the apparatus for HAARP is a reversal of a radio telescope; antennas send out signals instead of receiving. HAARP is the test run for a super-powerful radiowave-beaming technology that lifts areas of the ionosphere by focusing a beam and heating those areas. Extremely powerful electromagnetic waves then bounce back onto earth and penetrate everything, including the ground, water, and everything else.

“HAARP publicity gives the impression that it is mainly an academic project with the goal of changing the ionosphere to improve communications for our own good. However, other U.S. military documents put it more clearly: HAARP aims to learn how to ‘exploit the ionosphere for Department of Defense purposes.’ Communicating with submarines — which are beyond the curvature of the earth — is one of those purposes.

“The military has had about twenty years to work on weather warfare methods, which it calls ‘weather modification.’ For example, rainmaking technology was taken for a few test rides in Vietnam. The U.S. Department of Defense sampled lightning and hurricane manipulation studies in Project Skyfire and Project Stormfury. And they looked at some complicated technologies that would give big effects.

“Angels Don’t Play This HAARP cites an expert who says the military studied both lasers and chemicals which they figured could damage the ozone layer over an enemy. Looking at ways to cause earthquakes was part of the project named Prime Argus, decades ago.”

Hurricane Katrina happened 10 years ago, in 2005. At the time, the conspiracy theorists insisted that the hurricane was directly “steered” into New Orleans, via an ionospheric heater, and they said they had the pictures to prove it.

From a satellite photo of Katrina, you can see a tiny square in the center of the eye. It looks like a little box. This box, the theorists insisted, was the steering mechanism so that it could be a direct hit. Is this true? I don’t know.

Similar theorists trotted out the same explanation for the huge earthquake and resulting tsunami which crippled Fukushima: that a massive zap of ionospheric energy caused it.

Today I saw a graphic of “Typhoon” Champi which has made a sharp right turn, northwards, and is now on a direct course for the island of Iwo Jima. It certainly looks to have been steered. Do typhoons make right turns like that?

Certainly the technology exists to amplify and to steer a storm, and many countries have this same “weather modification” technology. It exists in Australia, China, Norway, Russia, Puerto Rico, Alaska, and other locales. So even if the theorists are correct about Katrina, there is no way to identify who was actually responsible.

Soudelor was one of the most destructive typhoons in memory. Not only did we get knocked sideways, Taiwan fared far worse — many deaths and a great destruction of property. Was it an act of God, or the product of some devious minds with an ionospheric heater?

We will never know the answer; but the technology exists.
