JPMorgan loses USD 4.4bn in 2nd quarter

That would bring the total loss to 5.8 billion in total in 2012.

The figure is considered roughly double what the financial institution had previously estimated. Anxious investors predict that the bank’s losses may increase to a marked amount of USD 9 billion by the end of the year 2012.

The JPMorgan’s officials have also stated that they are reducing the net income profits for the first quarter by almost USD 460 million.

The billion dollar losses are being blamed on some traders who deliberately misstated the value of their positions and hid the losses in one of the bank’s divisions.

JPMorgan’s investors have expressed their worries about the future of the financial institute, saying that they are losing confidence in the country’s biggest bank, due to its consecutive financial failures.

The United States, along with many EU member states, has been suffering worsening economic crisis as well as sluggish economy growth and raising unemployment rate roughly for five years, since the global financial crisis hit the country in 2007.
