Fall 2012 is the season for Lavuk. While past collections have lacked cohesiveness, this season the Los Angeles-based fashion label is getting their footing and defining their signature look. Comprised of blazers, jackets, skirts, dresses, leggings, and wearable separates, the ready-to-wear collection features feminine yet edgy silhouettes and classic styles with unexpected details like mesh cut outs. In short, it’s just the thing you would see on a polished, urban hipster who has a fashion-forward dress code at the office.

Lavuk designer Natasha Gindin didn’t always design with the urban girl in mind. When she showed her a low-cut sweatshirt–and playful prints. Yet, the collection lacked cohesiveness and did little to put Lavuk on the fashion map.
Fall 2012 is another story.

The blouses with mesh cut outs stand out most this season. Pair them with a high waist skirt during the day and low-rise bottoms at night to bare the midriff. Also notable are Lavuk’s tailored suiting, including jackets and coats that come in a few different color options.

Lacking are Lavuk’s jersey dresses. While they remain cohesive with the line and a great transition pieces from season to season, they’re less than memorable.

A constant from seasons past is Lavuk’s use of sustainable materials like organic cotton, tencel, hemp, dead stock silks, recycled denim, and remnant fabrics, including cotton, wool, jersey, and mesh. The line is made sweatshop-free in Los Angeles and, boosting their eco cred, a tree is planted for every Lavuk garment purchased through American Forests as part of the California Wildfire ReLeaf program.
