Lobbyists’ Gifts to Missouri Lawmakers Involving “Private Parts” may have to be Disclosed

nsnbc : Gifts from lobbyists to Missouri lawmakers involving private parts, that is sexual services and gifts, may soon have to be declared in disclosure forms equal to other gifts and services lawmakers receive from lobbyists.

The initiative involving the disclosure of lawmakers use of their “private parts” comes from Missouri State Congressman Bart Korman whose proposed legislation also includes sex with a lobbyist as a “gift” that has to be disclosed to the State Ethics Commission. The proposed amendment reads:

“For purposes of subdivision (2) of this subsection, the term “gift” shall include sexual relations between a registered lobbyist and a member of the general assembly or his or her staff. Relations between married persons or between persons who entered into a relationship prior to the registration of the lobbyist, the election of the member to the general assembly, or the employment of the staff person shall not be reportable under this subdivision. The reporting of sexual relations for purposes of this subdivision shall not require a dollar valuation.”

Korman noted that there already exists legislation that regulates gifts from lobbyists and the disclosure of gifts. Korman added that the amendment merely changes legislation by also defining sexual favors and services from lobbyists as “gifts”. Ironically, Korman’s proposed legislation about legislator’s private parts shall not require a dollar valuation. A freebee is a “gift” too.

Many US media including CNN spin their reporting to reflect moral issues such as sex between legislators and interns. Rendering sexual favors is, however, more common than one may assume. This holds true not only about political lobbyists. The practice to render sexual favors to medical doctors (among other) is also commonly used by the pharma industry.

What may be a more serious problem than the disclosure or non-disclosure of sexual services and favors may be that the use of legislators’ “private parts” is frequently used in political blackmail. Especially when such “favors and gifts” involve minors who are being handled by organized pedophile rings. Korman’s proposed amendment does not even begin to address that problem.
