Man charged with missing WA woman’s murder

Police have charged a man with the murder of Veronica Kaye Messina, hours after finding human remains in bushland in Western Australia’s Goldfields region.

The 51-year-old Boulder man was charged on Saturday afternoon.

The same man was charged on Friday with several counts of stealing from Ms Messina’s bank account and one count of driving while suspended.

It’s believed the man was a boarder at Ms Messina’s property.

Police allege he stole money from the 62-year-old’s bank account between June 26 and June 30, using her transaction card at various locations in Perth.

They also allege he used her Holden Commodore sedan, leaving it at Kalgoorlie Airport on June 26.

Ms Messina was last seen about 2pm on June 25 and was reported missing on June 28.

Earlier on Saturday, human remains believed to belong to Ms Messina were found in bushland east of Kalgoorlie.

The man is to appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Monday.
