A MAN remains in police custody after the body of a man was was found in Geelong last night.
Police were called to Cavendish St, in central Geelong, just before midnight where they found the body of a man, believed to be aged in his mid 50s.
Homicide Squad detectives are now questioning a 44-year-old man.
Both men had been staying at the Sir Charles Hotham Hotel, close to where the body was found.
Publican Chris Moore has told ABC Radio the discovery of the body has shaken regulars at the pub, saying a few residents are quite distressed.
