A GOLD Coast motorcyclist is fighting for his life after he hit a koala, and walked on to the road to help it.
Police say the 29-year-old took off his helmet before he walked onto the road to check on the hurt animal and was hit by a car.
The incident happened about 7pm (AEST) on Wednesday at the Guineas Creek Road at Tallebudgera.
The man was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital in a critical condition.
