Morcombes hope to bury son by Christmas

The parents of Daniel Morcombe say the quick succession of finds in the search for their son’s remains has given them hope of burying their boy by Christmas.

Denise and Bruce Morcombe would like to hold their son’s funeral on the anniversary of his disappearance and said the bones found last month meant it would not be long before investigators made other discoveries, the Courier Mail reports.

“It’s just a matter of time [before the next find],” Mrs Morcombe said.

Police have also said they do not want the search to go on for months and that the three discoveries of human bones and two sneakers, found off Kings Road in the Glass House Mountains, would be forensically tested.

They are also hopeful investigators may recover a fob-style pocket watch which their son was carrying when he disappeared in December 2003.

Mrs Morcombe said her son bought the watch for himself and his twin brother Bradley got it engraved for Daniel’s birthday.
