New Ron Paul Ad Slams Etch aSketch Idiocy m1b227 b78932207z.120120322142030000g7l16cv0f.3

For the past week the media, along with GOP presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, as well as the incumbent president, have fixated on a throw away remark about an ‘etch-a-sketch’ by a Romney communications advisor.

That’s right, while the economy continues its seemingly never ending spiral into a black hole, while innocent people continue to be slaughtered needlessly in Afghanistan, while the rhetoric over attacking Iran increases, and while everyday Americans are stripped of more and more basic freedoms, the candidates have held up plastic toys and beat the American voting public around the head with a distinctly average metaphor.

Enough is enough for Ron Paul, who today released a new ad outlining the idiocy of the spectacle and how it reflects a wider picture where the presidential race is concerned.

The internet only ad uses cringe inducing clips of Santorum and Gingrich brandishing Etch-a-Sketches at campaign events, along with corporate media hacks relentlessly filling their already comatizing schedules with fluff and nonsense about the children’s game.

“Tired of the games?” the hollywood trailer style video asks, before touting Paul as the only candidate who is “principled” and “consistent” with a “serious” plan to address the real problems America faces.

The ad “will be pushed to conservative email lists” and websites, according to a press release from the Paul campaign.

“In the context of $15 trillion in federal government debt, 12 million Americans jobless, and a country perpetually at war there is zero justification for treating the election as something to be toyed with.” the statement reads.

“Conservatives and Constitutionalists have long been concerned about Mitt Romney’s track record of position changes and flip-flops, and his top adviser’s slip of the tongue only reinforces this suspicion,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

“It is equally off-putting to see Santorum and Gingrich react like carnival barkers, not the statesmen America sorely needs. But, none of this is surprising,” added Mr. Benton.

“While the other candidates and the political chattering class are obsessed with horse-race politics and scoring public relations points, Dr. Paul stands alone in offering real solutions to difficult problems. He is the only candidate with a ‘Plan to Restore America’ that cuts real spending and balances the budget in one term, ends the foreign wars and nation-building, cuts taxes and regulations to create jobs, and reigns in the Federal Reserve,” the statement concludes.

    faces.

The ad “will be pushed to conservative email lists” and websites, according to a press release from the Paul campaign

I THOUGHT THE POINT WAS TO CONVERT NON CONSERVITIVES TO THE CAUSE, NOT APEASE CURRENT CONSERVITIVES ?

    WTF ?

  2. Etch a bitches

  3. Okay I’m going to be a little arrogant here, but…Most Americans act like they understand what the economy is, but it’s really just an act. The etch-a-sketch controversy is about all their level of contentiousness can understand.

If Ron really wants to be president he needs to start appealing to idiots who make up the bulk of the electorate. Here’s a hint Ron, shiny toys and glib one-liners are appealing to morons. Maybe you could make a ad about the economy but include someone farting and or some cute animals from a petting zoo. Or perhaps have a talking duck or lizard to make the pitch for you 😉

Very good post! If reason alone worked our country would be a very different place. You need attention getters like gross stuff or shiny bright toys or cartoons or sports horns. Then you can hit them with the serious stuff, maybe, depends on your audience.

The job interview process, not the job, for such a serious position a POTUS requires attention getting!

We all know that under THE OTHER CLOWNS currently running we are sunk. We know this!
We will go bankrupt and be like Greece with very high unemployment, salary cuts, and possible martial law.

This is the last chance we have to turn America around!

YES! A game where you run around colecting gold coins to protect your self from an evil bankster who flys around throwing money out of his hellacopter.

  4. The toys we collect are a good reflection of what you are.

  5. I liked the ad…..it is appealing to the empty skulls of mush (most Americans) and has a blockbuster type ending.

  6. I like the ad because it so much. Unfortunately, it says so much to everybody in the world EXCEPT Americans. I figure that if you showed this ad to each and every American, in the end you would have 200 million people people with totally blank expressions saying, “I don’t get it. An Etch-a-sketch isn’t a game, it’s a toy.”

  7. It is idiocy but it does grab people’s attention! Attention spans are short!

Judging by past elections people will elect a good looking or good sounding idiot.
Otherwise we would not be where we are today, nearly bankrupt and totally corrupt.

  8. COME ON,

DOES THIS GUY REALLY THINK HE’LL WIN THE PREZ ELECTION BY DOING NOTHING BUT PUTTING OUT COMMERCIALS ?

    AND NOT CONTESTING THE FRAUD

    I MEAN WTF ?

  9. There is too much at stake to make fun of this next go-around! God help us!

  10. I think that half of America is Awake to some forms of the truth. I also think most people are for Ron Paul. Romney buys his votes with his super pac of 16 Billionaires. If anyone looks up Ron Paul they are forever changed. Ron Paul probably has more then Half of America backing him but its just impossible to see what the real numbers are with the MSM lying 24/7. When I talk to people just about everyone thats republican, even democrat, are voting Ron Paul.

  11. Yeah, but that 16 Billionaires are spending like no tomorrow to force Ron in the trash can.

I know this. Money runs the world currently.

  12. la la la la la la la …..

  13. We talked and I rather have a piece of love (gold) than all of nothing…

  14. Toys are weapons, e.i. psychological weapons of mass destruction. I passed by a church the other day, you know, the one with the phallic steeple, and noticed a multicolored,
plastic jungle gym in the back yard. What a sickening sight.
That’s basically what we’re up against folks, and it’s run by
the commies of the nanny state, that knows what’s best for
the children. They’re protecting the children by dumbing them down. The truth of the matter is that the children should be tending the non GMO gardens, pulling the weeds and milking the goats.

Just another one of my “half baked opinions,” as usual.
I figure it’ll get ignored again.
